The Footprint is also available for private hire and is now regularly used for meetings, organised events, yoga workshops and even parties. This latter group has included weddings, childrens' naming ceremonies and various other celebratory events.
Children's parties are turning into a speciality at the Footprint and Green Birthday Bashes are now routinely hosted. These include the usual running around screaming madness, environmentally themed games, undercover and outdoor activities run by Footprint staff and a (reasonably) healthy tea party. Not only are they fantastic fun; they don't generate huge amounts of rubbish and waste and your children and their friends get to play and celebrate in the fresh air whatever the weather.
The indoor room of around 100m2 is a flexible space that can comfortably hold 30 children or around 25 adults; more if your group is seated in rows. Outside there is a very useful covered activity area and a covered walkway around the whole building. This leads into a grassy meadow which surrounds the building with a small stream on one side.
The refurbished toilet block is close by in the main building. Light refreshments are available and locally produced food can be provided for lunches and teas. The whole building and facilities are accessible by wheelchair.
The Footprint is accessed from a small car park that can park up to 12 cars. Windermere station is no more than 20 minutes away by foot; on paths which take you through beautiful woodland and give great views of the lake. Local buses stop near the end of the drive.
St Catherine's itself affords wonderful views over Windermere and into the central fells. A short step away from the Footprint brings you into beautiful woodland and parkland. It is a truly healthy, peaceful and invigorating venue suitable for a variety of uses.
