Footprint Art Project
During the construction year and for the school years afterwards an arts-based project ran with 4 local schools involving a total of 142 pupils. During phase I, working with local multi media artist Jac Scott, they looked in depth at the properties of the different materials used in the construction and created a number of temporary installations using these materials on site. The work at the end of this phase culminated in a special event at the Footprint and was the project was documented in the beautiful and creative sonic postcard. Follow the link and be inspired.
Phase II concentrated on each schools home environment and involved the pupils in researching consumption of resources such as energy and water and the day to day actions to be taken to cut these down. The information was interpreted by visually stunning permanent mosaic signage which remains in the schools today. The culmination of each schools work and learning was celebrated at events that involved the whole school, parents and members of the local community.
